Once i found myself actually reaching the page where you can shop online I was actually pleasantly surprised at the simplistic functionality of the site. It was easy to search for and find the products I was looking for (a more detailed cognitive walk through will be coming soon once we can get a credit card and actually register on the site to test the entire process of online shopping).
I logged on to the sites of several international grocery stores chains to compare them to Pick 'n Pays. Tesco's home page was structured better than PnP's with the emphasis on there products while things like investor relations and financial info about the company were at the bottom of the page. Also when I rolled over a button a small window appeared giving additional info of what was available from that option, unlike the Pnp's site where I often had to navigate backwards because I had misunderstood what the button was for. As far as the online shopping section of the tesco's site a more detailed walk through will follow but as for first impressions once you create a tesco's account there are many handy options like being able to make a favorites list of your commonly purchased items. They also claim that once you've placed your order it is easy to go back and change, you can add or remove items any time before the delivery. And there is an option to select a back up option in case your first choice is out if stock at the time of your delivery. So the tesco's site is very impressive on first impressions.
